Bloom where you’re planted

I met Olivia not too long before her session and I was so excited for our time together. Olivia started Ānuenue Flowers and shared a little bit with me about the meaning and heart behind her business. Ānuenue Flowers started as a passion project of Olivia’s and later turned into a steady side business. Ānuenue means ‘Rainbow’ in Hawaiian and it’s also Olivia’s middle name, which explains why she loves color so much.

“One of the reasons why I love being able to create with flowers is because of the creative freedom it gives me. There’s honestly no right or wrong way to arrange or put together certain flowers & color palettes. It’s all about getting that, ‘oh yeah, that’s SO pretty’ feeling with what you see.

Growing up, I was always attracted to all things colorful, especially when it came to flowers, which is why Ānuenue was such a fitting name for my little flower business. One of the earliest memories I have of arranging flowers is when I was about 4 years old… my mom would put on tea parties for me and my little sister. I can remember my contribution to the tea parties always being a fresh vase of wild flowers picked from our yard or Tūtūs’ yard.

Every time I arrange flowers, it brings me back to those
sweet memories of my childhood that I’ll forever cherish.”
